This week I took two hyperlapses around the capitol and they both complete failures, one with bad framing and the other with too many trees in the way to stabilize. Feeling defeated I was afraid of not having content for this week, until my drive home Wednesday when this sunset appeared. This is the exact reason why I travel with my camera anywhere I go, even when no intentions to use it. I pulled over on the side of the road just before the sun dipped below the trees and was able to capture the sky change colors over the next 35 minutes. The truth is, I really procrastinated this week so it is fairly late, almost Tuesday morning, so you’re going to get a short post haha.
Thoughts and What’s Next?
Watching this sunset timelapse after it was processed was so rewarding. Yes, I was out of focus when I was zoomed in on the sun but thankfully I corrected it once I manually zoomed out. The way the sky colors shift and seem to roll like the ocean is so fascinating to me and I found my self watching this one over and over. Next week I’m really excited about! I actually was out shooting some timelapses this afternoon for a new technique where I will mix timelapsing and super slowmo. Not sure how it will come out, but in my head this is one epic idea! Can’t wait to process the footage and pictures this week.
